Perfect Prime Rib
« on: November 22, 2011, 11:20:24 PM »
With the holidays coming up I thought I would share this tried and true way to cook a perfect prime rib. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees. Season your roast as you like. Put roast in oven (do not cover)  ALLOW OVEN TO RETURN TO 500 DEGREES BEFORE YOU START TIMING, cook 5 minutes per pound for rare, 6 minutes per pound for medium rare, 7 minutes per pound for medium. (Anything beyond that is a waste of good meat) Turn oven off, leave roast in for 2 hours. Comes out done as you prefer every time. The only problem with this is YOU CAN NOT OPEN YOUR OVEN or use it to cook anything else. Instead of twice baked potatoes, I will be making loaded mashed. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season, shared with the people that matter most in your life!
