I decided to take a day off work so I could do a 24 hour Tech Sabbath. No phone or computers for 24 hours. Since I'm a software engineer I can't really work under those restrictions. I decided to do a MicroAdventure instead.
I wanted this MicroAdventure to be a day trip so I thought about local attractions that I have never been to even though I have lived in Boise for 25+ years. One that jumped out was
Swan Falls Dam and Park.
Plan: Grab some gear and drive to the park. Go for a hike (minimum 1 hour). Take some pics. Have fun and relax during my Tech Sabbath.
Reality: It was a decent drive. I didn't play any tunes and found myself really enjoying the drive. I made the park in just a bit over 1 hour. I wasn't alone but there were only a couple of other visitors there. I had full run of the place It was quiet and cool and sunny. I crossed the dam and went for about an hour hike down river. Unfortunately, that side of the river was in the shade and it got pretty chilly in the wind and shade. Once my hands got cold enough I turned back. Once back at the car I warmed up in the sun and took a nap. Nice. A while later I retraced my steps and took some pictures.
Will I go back? Yes, I think I will go back to camp next to the river at one of the campsites. Unfortunately, it's not a POTA park.
