It's open to you. I highly recommend storing some extra food. Things could get nasty anytime.

I really like the potato pearls. They only last 1.8 years but they are really tasty. I have eaten some older than 2 years with no noticeable difference.
You can also borrow the #10 can canner. With the canner I have canned up lots of stuff I bought in bulk from Winco.
